CPA Accounts Executive Traineeship

The CPA Accounts Executive Traineeship is a one-year full time academic programme including a work placement for ambitious school leavers and mature students wishing to pursue a career as a professional accountant. This programme is fully funded.
 
This innovation in professional accounting education was developed to provide an initial opportunity that will help to ensure that anyone who has the ambition and commitment to become an accountant can do so, regardless of financial or logistical limitations. There is no requirement to have studied accountancy in the past.

 

Who is it for?

The course is aimed at those who have recently left school having completed the Leaving Certificate or mature students. The CPA Accounts Executive Traineeship can help activate your career in accounting and business.

 

How will I learn?

Every aspect of your professional training is paid for. The tuition will be delivered via face to face lectures in various locations around the country by Cenit College. Cenit College is a private college based in County Kildare and a CPA gold star approved learning provider with experienced lecturers from a range of accounting and financial backgrounds.

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Personal Presentation
  • Business Law and Professional Ethics
  • Accounting
  • Taxation
  • Accounting – manual & computerised

What are the entry requirements?

Leaving Certificate requirements up to and including 2016
  • Grade D3 or above in at least 6 papers, three of which must be grade C3 or above in higher level papers.
  • Two of the six subjects must be English and Maths.
Leaving Certificate requirements from 2017 onwards
  • Grade O6 or above in at least 6 papers, three of which must be grade H5 or above.
  • Two of the six subjects must be English and Maths.
  • There is no requirement to have studied accountancy.
An aptitude test and or pre-course interview will be required to assess your aptitude level and ability.

 

How long will it take to complete?

This programme commences in September each year with classroom based tuition and will be examined through computer and paper based exams throughout the year. There will also be a work placement from February in an accountancy practice or a business related organisation giving you an opportunity to gain applied practical experience in the world of accounting.


Are there any fees?

The programme is free for eligible individuals. The fee waiver applies to:

  • One year student membership of CPA Ireland
  • Course tuition
  • Support materials
  • First exam sitting
  • Contribution towards transportation costs (subject to eligibility)
