Q1 2024 Training Records

Training records for Q1 2024 are due to be submitted to the Institute by 30 April 2024.

This is a reminder that training records for Quarter 1 2024 (Jan – March) are due to be submitted for review by 30 April 2024. Please make certain that your mentor reviews/signs off on your training and closes the quarter, so the Institute is notified.

As previously notified, if the proposed amalgamation with Chartered Accountants Ireland goes ahead only records that have been submitted and accepted on the CPA Ireland online Training Record system can be transferred across. You will not be able to retrospectively add records.

Training records should be recorded each quarter to ensure that they are an accurate reflection of the training completed. You will receive feedback from the Institute each quarter to ensure that you are on track to comply with the CPA Ireland training requirements. Feedback could indicate for example:
  • Training has been accepted by the Institute.
  • Training has been rejected by the Institute (and the reason for rejection).
  • Training is too narrow – trainees must be able to demonstrate in-depth competence in at least 2 of the 6 training areas for admission to membership.
  • Training is not progressing as expected – e.g. too much training is being completed at the basic (CCA) level.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your supervisor reviews and signs off the training records. You should arrange a meeting with your supervisor each quarter, to review training completed and plan the work for the next quarter. Any feedback received from the Institute can be discussed with your supervisor and plans put in place to ensure your training will continue to be relevant.

It is also your responsibility to change your mentor on the system if:
  • You change employers.
  • You change mentors within the same employment.
If you have any queries about training, please email training@cpaireland.ie. Details of the Institute’s Training Requirements and how to log and submit your training can be found in this webinar.
