Approved Housing Bodies Regulatory Authority - FAQs

The Approved Housing Bodies Regulatory Authority (AHBRA) was established earlier this year. The AHBRA has responsibility for overseeing the effective governance, financial management and performance of all voluntary and co-operative housing bodies, in accordance with the legal framework set out in the Housing (Regulation of Approved Housing Bodies) Act 2019.

The powers and functions of the AHBRA have commenced on a phased basis. Draft regulatory standards for housing bodies are expected to issue shortly and will cover matters such as governance, financial management and reporting, property and asset and tenancy management. A useful FAQ document has been prepared by the AHBRA and this can be found together with further details regarding the Authority here.
