Patrick D'Arcy has more than twenty years experience involving tax, fraud and money laundering investigations and has undertaken a number of projects and investigations including governmental, regulatory and not for profit organisations. He has substantial experience in formulating and investigating money laundering schemes and in unravelling sophisticated and complex frauds involving multi-jurisdictional having international dimensions.

Patrick has acted as a specialist for engagements involving anti-money laundering reviews, involving the review and robust testing of large financial entities’ AML identification and reporting processes and assessment of appropriate risk levels inherent in client transactions, validation and verification of documentation requirements and adequacy of internal AML policies, together with the provision of tailored AML programmes.
 

LIZ HUGHES,
CEO, CHARITIES INSTITUTE IRELAND










Liz Hughes was appointed CEO of Cii in April 2019. Liz has over 20 years’ experience in developing and delivering strategy across a variety of sectors including not for profit, accountancy, law and IT. Prior to joining Cii, Liz led the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in Ireland and Europe where she was responsible for key recruitment, conversion and retention strategies. 

In her session, Liz will provide an overview of the charity sector in Ireland in 2020. She will discuss the scale and complexity of the sector as well as evolving opportunities and challenges. As a relatively newly regulated sector, Liz will discuss some recent developments in professionalising the sector including financial reporting standards and governance requirements. She will also highlight a number of areas where the accountancy profession can support the charity sector in meeting these requirements.
