CPA Ireland would like to extend congratulations and best wishes to Mary Gleeson, CPA who was recently appointed President of Accounting Technicians Ireland.
Mary is currently in her 25th
year as a member of Accounting Technicians Ireland
and Chairperson of the ATI Munster District Society. She is also a member of ATI’s Finance Committee and was appointed to the Board in 2017.
She studied to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
with CPA Ireland in 2001, becoming a Fellow in 2014.
Supporting SMEs became a key driver in Mary’s decision to study to become an accountant, and she now runs her own Financial Management and Accounting Practice. She has a passion for supporting community development and has enjoyed working as Financial Controller for Ballyhoura Development CLG for the past twenty-two years. A community-led development company, the organisation works with individuals, communities, and businesses in the Ballyhoura region of East Limerick and North Cork.
The commitment to community development at Ballyhoura, saw them become a founding member of Social Enterprise Republic of Ireland (SERI), a new initiative which provides support to allow social enterprises to thrive.
Mary is also involved in reviewing the governance and financial systems of various enterprises, particularly the compliance with the new Code of Governance for Charities. A career highlight was her work with Accounting for International Development (AFID) which enables accountants to use their skills to support charities based all over the world.
Mary Gleeson will join CPA Ireland for a live webinar on Monday July 27th
at 1.00 pm to speak to Accounting Technician students and graduates about her accountancy studies and career to date for those wishing to progress a career in accountancy. Further details and to reserve your place is available here
