Previous Career Experience: 

I have over 30 years in sales and finance operations. During this time, I have spent over 25 years with EMC/Dell in a range of roles in a range of different sectors ranging from logistics, finance and business operations.  

When and Why did you move to the US?

I moved to the US in 2012 to take up the North America Operations Leadership role.

What does your current job involve?

In my current role, I manage a global $4billion P&L as a sales business partner which is similar to a CFO role for a business unit.

What advice would you have for an Irish CPA interested in working in the US?

Be prepared to adapt to a dynamic environment, be prepared to operate as a business first and an accountant second. Your role as a finance professional is about applying the skills to solve complex business problems. No one approach fits all with multiple complete customer types, business segments and geographical differences.
