Why did you decide to start out in a career in accountancy?

Accountancy has been the most exciting subject to me since my early college days. It gained my interest further through college and I decided to pursue my Bachelors in commerce through Chartered Accountancy.

Please provide a brief history of your career.

In 2012, at the age of 23 and after qualifying as a CA, I joined a financial consultancy firm based in Mumbai, India, as a lead consultant for taxation. In 2013, I shifted to UAE where I joined Imperial College London Diabtetes Centre (ICLDC), an internationally affiliated healthcare service provider, based in Abu Dhabi, as a Management Accountant. I progressed from Management Accountant to Assistant Finance Manager and then to Finance Manager. In 2021, I moved out of ICLDC to join the biggest healthcare group in Abu Dhabi called SEHA as Budget and Reporting Manager at Abu Dhabi region hospitals.

Why did you decide to become a member of CPA Ireland?

CPA Ireland is a prestigious institute to be associated with. I was thrilled with the ease of becoming a member through the mutual recognition pathways for a qualified Chartered Accountant and that is why I decided to pursue it.

Career-enhancement.

What has been your biggest career achievement?

My biggest career achievement has been some exceptional value creation for the stakeholders by way of supplier negotiations and cost optimization at places where I have associated myself within the last decade in healthcare.

What or who inspires you most in business?

The drive to create significant differences for stakeholders around myself is my biggest inspiration.

What advice would you give to those recently qualified or currently studying for their accountancy qualification?

For those who have recently qualified, my message is that being in finance or accounting puts you at the forefront of decision making in any professional endaevours you undertake. Sooner or later, you will understand that the function we hold is one of the most significant in determining success of the organisation you will work for.

Positive attitude, critical thinking and the ability to walk an extra mile.
