Applications are invited for the role of Knowledge Manager at CPA Ireland. This role is for a qualified accountant looking for something a little different and significantly varied.

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland) is one of the main Irish accountancy bodies, with in excess of 5,000 members and students.

The successful candidate will work in a fast- paced technical environment and will be responsible for keeping CPA members up to date with developments in financial reporting, ethics, company law, audit and corporate governance. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for engaging with CPA members through the technical query facility advising them of current practice in these areas and with researching  and developing of the CPA CPD & Further Learning Programmes as well as contributing and editing articles  for CPA Ireland’s quarterly publication, Accountancy Plus journal and monthly e-news bulletin.
The Institute’s membership operates in public practice, industry, financial services and the public sector and CPAs work in over 48 countries around the world.

The Institute is active in the profession at national and international level, participating in the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies – Ireland – CCAB (I) and together with other leading accountancy bodies, the Institute was a founding member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) – the worldwide body.

Key Responsibilities to include

  • Technical Accountancy & Ethical Queries : Providing Technical support to CPA Ireland members queries on accountancy, audit and ethical issues by phone and email.

  • Obligation to maintain competence in Financial Reporting and Company Law changes which could potentially impact the industry.

  • Technical Advice on and research for CPD programme: Requirement to remain up to date on current and pending issues impacting the accountancy profession and using this knowledge to advise the CPD Executive on relevant training courses.

  • Technical Advice on and research for Certificates & Diplomas: Involvement in the development of training programmes for qualified accountants including editing, proofing and reviewing material for these programmes.

  • Providing Training sessions on the CPD programme.

  • Editor, eBulletin: Research, source and write relevant material for monthly eBulletin

  • Technical Adviser for CPA Ireland’s quarterly journal, Accountancy Plus: Recommend relevant topics for consideration in Accountancy Plus and write articles when required.  Review and proof technical content.

  • Maintenance of assigned technical areas on website: Ensure material on the website is up to date, correct and relevant.

  • Professional Accountancy Qualification

  • Extensive knowledge of all accountancy topics of relevance in the Irish domain including financial reporting, company law, audit and ethics.

Specific Requirements

  • Professional accountancy qualification essential

  • Significant post qualification experience encompassing broad accountancy experience

  • Driving licence as travel around Ireland will be required

  • IT literate - excellent MS skills familiar with MS Office and use of web applications as a promotional tool

  • References required.
