CPA Ireland is delighted to provide this summary of Budget 2016, prepared by Purcell McQuillan Tax Partners Ltd.

Further information available on the left hand side menu.

The Minister for Finance introduced the final Budget of the 31st Dail.  He advised that it is considered that as a result of this Budget that the recovery will be felt in every home in the country.  The only taxation increase introduced is an extra 50 cents on every packet of standard cigarettes.  The majority of the changes announced had been circulating in the media in the last few days.

CPA Ireland has undertaken significant lobbying to remove the discrimination against the self-employed in our tax system and proposed the introduction of an entrepreneurial CGT regime similar to the UK.  The Institute welcomes that the Minister has gone some way to meet our concerns and we hope the next Government will continue the work which has been started.
