August 2010 Examinations
The August 2010 Examinations will run from Monday 30 August to Friday 3 September (both dates inclusive). A detailed timetable can be found here.
Students can download and Examination Entry form by clicking here. All applications must be received by the Institute no later than 5pm on 1 August 2010. Please note that no late application faciality is available.
The Examination System
Examinations are an essential element in student assessment. Detailed information on our Examination System is available here.
Examinations are held twice yearly, at the end of April and end of August. Results are issued to students within 6 weeks of the final examination being held.
- To be eligible to sit an examination in April, a candidate must have registered as a student with the Institute by 1 December and submitted an examination registration form by 1 March.
- To be eligible to sit an examination in August, a candidate must have registered as a student with the Institute by 1 June and submitted an examination registration form by 1 August.

Examination Regulations
Students must read and familiarise themselves with the Examination Regulations.
Exemptions
Exemptions are granted on a subject-for-subject basis to students who have already passed equivalent examinations set by other accredited organisations.
Concessionary Sittings
Where, due to some unforeseen exceptional or extenuating circumstance(s), a student has not passed the Institute’s examinations within the permitted timeframe, the student may apply to the Education and Training Committee for a concessionary sitting. The Education and Training Committee (The Committee) has some limited discretion to grant an applicant a concession.
Any application for a concessionary sitting must:
1. Describe the exceptional or extenuating circumstance(s)
2.Describe how the circumstance(s) adversely affected the student’s studies and / or examination(s) performance.
3. Include relevant third party back up to the circumstances described, and
4. A non refundable application fee of €100.
Applications will be considered on a case by case basis. A concession will only be granted when The Committee is satisfied:
5. That some unforeseen exceptional or extenuating circumstance(s) has / have adversely affected a student’s studies and / or examination(s) performance, and
6.That the exceptional or extenuating circumstance(s) has/have passed or been resolved
Applications for such concessionary sittings may only be made in the:
i) Eight week period after the issuing of the results of the first (April diet of examinations in a calendar year,
ii) Six week period after the issuing of the results of the second (August) diet of examinations in a calendar year, and
iii) Six week period commencing February 1st each year.
Students should note that the examination entry deadlines of 1 March and 1 August must also be adhered to for applications for the April and August examinations respectively.
N.B A student making an application for a concessionary sitting must send the case in hard copy, (including original relevant supporting documentation) and a signed covering letter, to the Education & Training Committee, Institute of Certified Public Accountants, 17 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.
