Cormac FitzGerald (CPA) newly appointed to CPA Council

A former Cork Business Person of the Year, Cormac Fitzgerald (CPA) has been appointed to the Council of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland. Mr. Fitzgerald is managing partner of Kinsale accountancy firm Fitzgerald & Partners.

This is a prestigious appointment for Mr. Fitzgerald who will now be assisting the President and Chief Executive of one of Ireland’s most influential accountancy bodies to identify and implement strategies for the future growth and development of the Institute.

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants is represents over 5,000 members (including students) working in private practice, public sector, industry and the financial services. The role of the Institute is to oversee the professional activities of its members in practice, ensuring compliance with legal obligations and the Institute’s Code of Ethics. Its role also includes keeping members updated on issues affecting the profession and ensuring that educational and training standards are maintained.

Commenting on Mr Fitzgerald’s appointment John White, President of the CPA said, “I would like to welcome Cormac Fitzgerald to the Council of the CPA. Cormac is a very strong supporter of this Institute and of his fellow CPAs. He is Chairman of the CPA Munster Regional Society and is also member of the CPA SME/SMP committee. He is a dedicated accountant who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the CPA and I look forward to working with him in the years ahead.”

Mr. Fitzgerald said: “Fitzgerald & Partners specialises in dealing with business start ups and business expansion which gives me a strong knowledge of the issues impacting on business in Ireland. I will bring this experience to bear in my role on the CPA Council. The CPA Institute is a strong advocate for entrepreneurs and SME businesses in Ireland and I look forward to developing a stronger Institute for our members. I am honoured to be appointed to the Council of the Institute and I look forward to working with the President, the Chief Executive and my fellow council members”.
