Council and Committees
The Council of the Institute, is composed of 16 elected members and up to 3 non-members, including the President and Vice-Presidents. They meet on average 8 times a year to set policy.

The Council of the Institute sets policy in relation to areas such as the regulation of members in the public interest, the growth and development of the Institute and examination and training standards.  Members and students are informed of new developments as they emerge.

In addition, the Institute has various committees that meet during the year. These are made up of volunteer members and their role is to assist in the implementation of the strategies and policies decided by Council.

The policies of Council are implemented at operational level by Committees and Institute staff.
