CPA students are required to complete a minimum of 3 years relevant supervised training. CPA training can be gained in practice, in 'industry' or through a combination of both. The Competence Profile for Newly Qualified CPA's is available here.
With CPA, students are not tied to a training contract, meaning you are free to choose your employer and job sector. This flexibility and freedom of movement enables you to make progress in your chosen career while continuing to study for your exams.
At least 50% of the training gained must be supervised by a fully qualified accountant. During training students must maintain a training record. Students must also complete a Certificate of Practical IT Competence and a Competency Guide & Return as part of their training requirements.
Training in practice
CPA students may train in practice - giving them the future option of setting up their own practice, or simply to gain relevant experience.
Training in 'industry'
Training in 'industry' can lead to careers in financial services, the public sector, industry, consultancy, IT, education and many other sectors.
