Declan McEvoy

Declan McEvoy is an A.I.T.F. chartered tax adviser, a registered trust & estate practitioner and is IFAC Accountants’ Head of tax.  He is a leading authority on farm taxation and estate planning,  has lectured extensively on tax topics throughout Ireland, is a regular contributor to farming publication and recently was co-author of ‘Farming in a Limited Company – is it right for you?’




Maureen Kelly

Maureen Kelly CPA, is Technical Services Executive of CPA Ireland.  Maureen provides technical support to CPA members directly and through Institute publications.  Maureen also contributes to the content of the Institute’s ongoing Continuing Professional Education programme and runs the Career Link, the Certificate in FRS102 and  the Certified Tax Adviser (CTax) courses.  Maureen was also involved in the creation of the first Personal Insolvency Practitioner (PIP) Training in Ireland this year run in partnership with ACCA and CIMA.  She was the Technical Reviewer of the CPA A new Era for Irish & UK GAAP A quick reference guide to FRS102” and has since delivered webinars and lectured on the subject in Ireland and the UK. 



Nicola Quinn

Nicola has over 15 years experience as a tax advisor and currently leads PwC’s tax practice in Cork.

Nicola provides tax advice to a wide range of multinational and Irish indigenous clients and their shareholders across all tax heads. In particular, Nicola has extensive experience in advising clients on the tax efficient structuring of their businesses in Ireland and overseas. She has significant experience of dealing with Revenue authorities in Ireland and overseas on behalf of clients. Nicola rejoined PwC in 2013 after spending a number of years working in Bank of Ireland Group Tax where she advised the business on all areas of tax and in LHM Casey McGrath where she provided tax advice to a portfolio of indigenous clients. Nicola is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).


Audrey Crean

Audrey trained in Niall Byrne & Co Accountant, Dublin where she completed her ACCA qualification. After completing her accounting qualification Audrey moved into tax compliance and started the Institute of Taxation exams. In March 2004 she moved from there to Cogent Taxation Group in Cork where she became a specialist in tax planning for both individual and corporate entities. In July 2007 Audrey went to O’Gorman, Brannigan, Purtill & Co where she set up the tax department and is now the Tax partner, they deal with all taxation issues, tax planning to all clients, solicitors, other accountants and professions. Audrey is also currently lecturing on the CPA Certified Tax Adviser Programme.


Paul Gosal

Paul Gosal is an AITI-Chartered Tax Advisor and Chartered Accountant with over 10 years’ experience as a tax practitioner. Paul provides personal, corporate and capital tax consultancy advisory to a broad range of individual and corporate clients specialising in Family Business/Corporate restructurings (including succession aspects); Personal Tax and Estate Planning for individuals; Personal Tax planning for internationally mobile directors/employees; Revenue Audits & Investigations and Tax aspects of Debt Resolutions and Restructurings.


Gary O'Mahony

Gary is a law graduate from University College Cork and also spent a year in Dublin City University doing a post-graduate diploma conversion course in accountancy. He trained in Arthur Andersen, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 and as a tax professional in 1995. Previously a tax director with Ernst & Young, he joined Kieran Ryan & Co in 2004 as a tax partner and now heads up the tax department, dealing daily with many tax and commercial issues across a varied client portfolio.

Gerry Vahey

Gerry joined Mazars in 1997 and became a Partner in 2006. He has extensive experience in advising clients on the most appropriate methods of structuring their ownership of intellectual property, in particular the taxation of patents. In addition, he also advises companies on identifying opportunities for maximising the value of research and development.  Gerry has extensive experience in transaction support, reconstructions and amalgamations, succession planning and also the tax efficient structuring of the sale and acquisition of companies. Among his clients are a number of businesses in the renewable energy sector. Gerry also lectures to various professional bodies and business organisations on various taxation matters, such as Revenue Audits, Employee Investment Incentive Scheme, Tax Based Property, Corporation and Capital Gains Tax.

Alan Lawlor

Alan Lawlor FCCA, AITI is a Partner in Wallace O Donoghue Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors specialising in business taxation. He has advised a range of corporate and personal clients in the SME sector on a wide range of tax issues including Revenue audits and investigations, succession planning, corporation tax incentives including seed capital/BES schemes and specialist VAT issues.
