Adrian Weckler, Independent Newspapers

Adrian Weckler is the technology editor of Independent Newspapers, incorporating The Irish Independent, The Sunday Independent and Independent.ie. He writes about how technology interacts with people in their day-to-day lives at work and at home.

Prior to joining Independent Newspapers, he was an assistant editor of The Sunday Business Post, where he covered technology-related issues. He was also responsible for revamping The Sunday Business Post's website, including the creation of The Daily Business Post.

Adrian is a regular contributor to television and radio programmes in Ireland on technology and business issues.

Derek McKay, Adare HRM

Derek McKay, BBS, Chartered MCIPD, is an experienced Human Resource and Employment Law practitioner who has worked extensively in both the private and public sectors. Prior to setting up Adare Human Resource Management in 2003, Derek worked in the Human Resource Departments in a number of multinational organisations.

Adare Human Resource Management is one of Ireland’s leading HR and Employment Law consultancies offering both one off project based consultancy services and retainer support services for organisations requiring HR support on an on-going basis. 

Derek’s role involves overseeing the HR and Employment Law services provided to clients across a wide range of sectors by the team of consultants within Adare Human Resource Management. Derek regularly speaks at seminars for companies and associations throughout the country on HR and Employment related topics and contributes to numerous publications in this area also.

Gary O’Mahony, Kieran Ryan & Co

Gary is a law graduate from University College Cork and also spent a year in Dublin City University doing a post-graduate diploma conversion course in accountancy. He trained in Arthur Andersen, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 and as a tax professional in 1995. Previously a tax director with Ernst & Young, he joined Kieran Ryan & Co in 2004 as a tax partner and now heads up the tax department, dealing daily with many tax and commercial issues across a varied client portfolio. He has considerable experience of speaking on tax issues and currently lectures on the CTax course.


Michelle Kane, FSCom

Michelle Kane is Head of Anti Money Laundering with FSCom, and she is responsible for managing the firm's Anti Money Laundering Department. She joined FSCom with an established track record in best practice in preventing money laundering and countering terrorist financing, with her experience as the MLRO for the self-regulatory body, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, and her more recent experience in assisting accountancy practices throughout Ireland in ensuring their internal systems and controls are sufficient to detect and discourage money laundering.


Paula Guilfoyle, The Excel Club

Paula Guilfoyle CPA is well known for delivering Excel training as the owner of The Excel Club. Paula is now Director with the Professional Training Academy, an organisation providing online CPD, including its very popular Excel Training - The Excel Club.




Ronan Horgan, Bibby Financial Services Ireland

Ronan was appointed as Managing Director for Bibby Financial Services Ireland, based in Sandyford, Dublin in January 2014. Ronan is responsible for overseeing and managing the continued profitable growth for BFSI in the Irish market. 

Ronan has a solid background in the financial services industry having worked for over fifteen years in senior management and sales functions in banking.  He has a strong track record in delivering alternative funding products to SME businesses across Ireland and his ability to motivate, communicate with, and lead multi-disciplinary teams in a challenging economic landscape makes him well suited to take on the role of MD in Ireland. 


Tom Murray, Friel Stafford

Tom Murray is a partner with Friel Stafford – and is one of Ireland’s leading Insolvency practitioners.  Tom  is widely consulted by Accountants, Directors and Financial Institutions on a insolvency related issues both small and large.

He was most recently part of the development team and the lead presenter on the CPA Personally Insolvency Practioner Course, which saw the vast majority of candidates qualify as being eligible to apply to become authorised PIP’s. 

A past president of ACCA Ireland, Tom is also a member of CPA Ireland and a certified mediator. As well as insolvency, Tom is a well known as forensic accountant and expert witness.


Tony Kelly, Byrne Curtin Kelly

Tony Kelly FCPA FCCA is a co-founder of Byrne Curtin Kelly a practice formed in 1998. Prior to the forming of Byrne Curtin Kelly, Tony held some prestigious positions, working for practices such as OSK and also acting as Technical Advisor to CPA Ireland for a number of years. Tony has also served on committees on behalf of CPA, and is a Director of IAASA as a nominee of the accountancy profession, a position which he has held for several years (Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority).

Tony acts for a diverse range of clients and offers accountancy and management advisory services to many clients providing key information and advice on a regular basis.


Mark Pery-Knox-Gore

Mark Pery-Knox-Gore is a partner in the corporate and commercial department of Beauchamps and head of the firm’s corporate governance unit and charities law unit.  Mark’s practice spans the public, private and voluntary sectors. His main focus is advisory work for SMEs, public bodies and charitable organisations in the area of business regulation, corporate governance and contracts. His charity clients include healthcare, childcare, disability and adoption organisations as well as religious congregations and community development groups.  Mark is a former Chairman of the Business Law Committee of the Law Society of Ireland and represents the Law Society on the Company Law Review Group. He is Head of the firm’s Corporate Governance Law Unit. He is a regular speaker on corporate governance at seminars and training sessions organised by Public Affairs Ireland.
