Jim Power is a graduate of University College, Dublin with a BA in Economics & Politics, and a Master of Economic Science Degree.  During a career within the financial services industry, he has worked as Treasury Economist at AIB Group and Chief Economist at Bank of Ireland Group Treasury and Friends First Group.

He has taught Financial Management to under-graduates in Dublin City University; Economics on the Local Government MBA at Dublin City University and Business Economics on the Executive MBA and the Full Time MBA at the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, University College Dublin. In September 2014, he will teach Business Economics on the Full Time MSc Management at the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, University College Dublin.

He writes regular columns in both The Examiner and The Sunday Business Post online edition and contributes to numerous other newspapers and magazines on an occasional basis. He is also a frequent contributor to radio and TV on a variety of different shows.

He is a board member of Agri-Aware, the food awareness body and is Chairperson of Love Irish Food.

He is editor of Friends First regular ‘Economic Outlook’, which has become established as one of Ireland’s leading commentaries on the Irish economy.  

Maureen Kelly CPA, is Knowledge Manager of CPA Ireland.  Maureen provides technical support to CPA members directly and through Institute publications.  She also manages the design and development of courses such as Certified Tax Adviser (CTax), Diploma in US GAAP, Companies Act 2014, FRS102 Certificate and the first PIP Training for Accountants in Ireland.  She is Technical Adviser to the Accountancy Plus journal, editor of the monthly eBulletin and was the Technical Reviewer of the CPA A new Era for Irish & UK GAAP A quick reference guide to FRS102”. Since 2012 Maureen has lectured on financial reporting standards, company and charity law and audit in Ireland and abroad. Maureen is a qualified CPA and holds Certificates in Safety & Health at Work from UCD and Training and Continuing Education from NUI Maynooth. Previously Maureen held the position of the Head of Finance & Operations of the National Women’s Council of Ireland. Prior to this Maureen worked for 10 years as Financial Controller in the Charity Sector.

Robert Whelan is Managing Director by title but a Wealth Manager by profession who works with Business Owners, Senior Executives and Professionals to help them achieve their financial goals. Robert has built his career on a core principal that what is good for his clients is good for his business. He started Rockwell as a one-person practice in May 2013 and today they have 11 employees. Their sister company Rockwell Mortgages won Best Mortgage Broker at the 2016 MoneyMate awards. He holds a BComm from UCD and has attained QFA, RPA (Retirement) and SIA (Investment) post graduate qualifications.

Derek is an accomplished Senior Employment Law and Human Resource Management Practitioner, with a wide range of experience in Employee and Industrial Relations.

Derek’s role of Managing Director of Adare Human Resource Management involves overseeing the HR and Employment Law support services provided to a portfolio of clients across a wide range of sectors by the team of consultants within Adare Human Resource Management. Derek regularly speaks at seminars for companies and associations throughout the country on HR and Employment related topics and contributes to numerous publications in this area also.

Derek has brought a wealth of experience to Adare Human Resource Management clients in all aspects of HR and Employment Law, capitalising on his earlier HR career within the private sector working within large organisations. His specialties include Employment Law, HR Management, and Performance Management.

Paul Murphy is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and Managing Director with Martin J. Kelly & Co. He is a qualified accountant and a member of the Irish Tax Institute. Paul has lectured with the Irish Tax Institute for over 15 years and also provides taxation seminars for various professional bodies. He is a co-author of the Tax Institute’s Irish Taxation: Law & Practice annual publication.

Conor is from Wexford originally and is married with 2 boys Dara & Ciarán. Conor studied General & Corporate Administration at the Waterford Institute of Technology and this was his first introduction to Company Law and the role of the Company Secretary. He qualified as a Chartered Secretary and has worked as a Company Secretarial Adviser for 14 years. Conor is recognised as one of the leading experts in Company Law and Company Secretarial in Ireland, in addition to lecturing in the Law Society and on behalf of all of the Accountancy Institutes. He has had several published articles and is a Past President of ICSA Chartered Secretaries Ireland.

Justin O’Gorman has worked in the Financial Services Industry since 1988 and is a Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) and a Retirement Planning Adviser (RPA). He also holds the APA in both Personal and Commercial Insurance. 

Justin has worked in a number of financial institutions over the years and is presently the Director of Financial Services for JDM Financial Services, a position he has held since 2012. 

Justin believes in calling a spade a spade and this is borne out in his presentations where he looks at the financial world from a different angle than others in his field”.

Hugh Jones is a co-founder of Sytorus Ltd, a specialised provider of Data Protection consultancy, assessment and training services.

With his colleagues, Hugh provides professional Data Protection guidance, and is a frequent speaker at Privacy and Data Management events in Ireland and overseas. Hugh offers consultancy support and tailored training to organisations in the areas of data management and regulatory compliance. 

Hugh is an experienced project manager, and has been working in recent years with a wide range of commercial, not-for-profit and public-sector organisations to help them prepare for GDPR compliance.

Tim Egar's background is in the Public Service. He held the appointment of DPO for an organisation with 9,500 employees for a two period from 2015 and continues in an advisory capacity on their GDPR Implementation Group. 

He completed the Law Society Certificate in Data Protection in 2017. Tim has linked with the hotel industry, the not-for-profit sector and sports/youth clubs instructing and enabling employees to achieve a level of Data Protection self-sufficiency in order to achieve GDPR compliance.
